‘Ā’ishah (may Allah be pleased with her) reported: When my vindication was revealed, the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) got up onto the pulpit, mentioned what happened, and recited (the verses of the Qur'an that had been revealed). When he came down from the pulpit, he ordered that the two men and the woman (who made the false accusation) be given their prescribed punishment (eighty lashes). عن عائشة -رضي الله عنها- قالت: «لما نَزَلَ عُذْرِي، قام النبي -صلى الله عليه وسلم- على المِنْبَر، فَذَكَرَ ذَاكَ، وتَلَا -تعني القرآن-، فلما نَزَلَ من المِنْبَر، أَمَرَ بِالرَّجُلَيْنِ والمرأة فَضُرِبُوا حَدَّهُمْ». [حسن.] - [رواه أبو داود والترمذي وابن ماجه وأحمد.] الشرح
